The ERP Trends 2023 are out! Read our article: The Top 5 ERP Trends for 2023

Since the 1990s, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) has been growing steadily, proving its necessity for businesses, especially in light of the pandemic that has put business continuity at test. The working model of the businesses has changed and the role of ERP in digital transformation has become more significant than ever.

Gartner forecasts Enterprise Software spending to grow by 11.5% in 2022, reaching a cumulative spending of 669,819 Millions of U.S. Dollars.

In this interview, Mr. Imad Kozem, CEO of CODERS® takes us through the reasons why ERPs are gaining as much importance and the main ERP trends for 2022.

What are the reasons for companies to implement an ERP software?

Companies implementing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) are most likely looking to improve their business performance, or make their employees’ jobs easier by streamlining repetitive tasks. ERP solutions such as RetailPlus™ by CODERS® for example eliminates the need to maintain various disparate systems to run your business, which increases the efficiency of your teams.

Also, by adding an ERP system, organizations are able to make data-driven decisions that would for example affect their pricing strategy, offer a more personalized customer experience and even predict their client’s behavior.

For instance, softwares can consolidates customers’ purchase intelligence such as sales history, transaction details and wish list, and provides the right information at the right time for sales associates to better guide and recommend their customers based on purchase patterns and preferences.

What are the main ERP trends to look out for in 2022?

The main ERP trend would be the shift to cloud-based ERP software that rely on systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Cloud-based ERP software solutions are more scalable. Traditionally ERP was offered on-premise applications and required a significant startup investment whether in the hardware or software that SMBs couldn’t afford, however the Cloud has democratized the access to ERPs. As for data security, it is built-in and continually updated, providing continuity in protection. Cloud-based ERP data security also has end-to-end security, offering an encrypted connection between the cloud-based ERP vendor and its customers.

The second major ERP trend for 2022 would be the shift from one-size-fits-all ERP solutions to more personalized and industry relevant ERP solutions. For instance, at CODERS®, while we have different ERP solutions for distributors, contractors, pharmaceutical companies, retailers, supermarkets, NGOs and others, we also make tailor-made ERP solutions for businesses. All our solutions are built on top of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

The third major ERP trend for 2022 would be flexibility and that means granting companies the possibility to respond with confidence to business change by helping them adapt to trends such as hybrid working, digital transformation, decarbonization, and the effects of Covid-19, not to forget the rising inflation.

Finally, I believe Mobile ERP will make it big as mobile apps are no longer a luxury but a necessity due to the level of mobile penetration. Furthermore, Mobile ERP has become a necessity due to the surge of the remote and hybrid working culture during the past couple of years. An ERP application would enable people to conduct business anywhere, anytime and creates a better synergy between teams which has a high effect on productivity and communication.
